Interview with Invitation to Inspiration

I have discovered this lovely blog called Invitation to Inspiration and since inspiration is something that I love, I immediately fell for their blog! I hope you enjoy learning more about these duo bloggers!

I would love to know your names, ages, where are you both from?
Invitation To Inspiration duo are Matea (29 years old) and Martina (28 years old). Both of us were born in Split, Croatia.
Martina studied Croatian and English linguistics and literature in her hometown. After high school graduation, Matea went to Venice, Italy where she got her bachelor`s degree, followed by a graduate degree in architecture in Trieste, Italy.
What made you start to blogging in the first place?
Matea`s photography was our blogging trigger. We didn`t overanalyze the idea of starting our blog. We were complete blog ignorants, which made the whole thing a lot easier for us. When you know nothing, you`ve got nothing to lose.
Martina: I`ve always been impressed by Matea`s photos. After seeing her photos of my last birthday party, I said to her: "Woman, you`ve got to let the world see your talent! You should have your own blog!“ She said she would do it if I became her "partner in crime" and the rest is history.
Matea: I`ve fallen in love with photography parallel with the beginning of my studies in Italy. I had been toying with the idea of starting my own photo blog for quite a long time, but I had a million excuses why not to start it. When Martina blurted out her proposal, I said to myself, "Why not!"

How does it work for two bloggers? Do you get along? Would you both rather have your own blog or do you like sharing it together?
Our collaboration feels incredibly natural to us. We have never had the need to question it. We`ve been friends for 15 years and share the same aesthetic sensibility. Each of us enjoys complete freedom when creating a post.

Matea is in charge of the architectural posts, Martina takes care of the literature section, while the fashion section is handled by both of us. Matea is the one behind the camera and Martina the one posing in front of it in our authentic posts.
The idea of having separate blogs have never crossed our minds. For us, having a blog makes sense only if we`re doing it together.
What are you most inspired by? Why?
Creating the blog has just confirmed what we`ve always known- every aspect of the world around us is inspirational. From the work of famous architects and writers to the creations of ordinary people who live with us and around us.
Finally, we inspire each other and learn from each other which is the most amazing "side effect" of having a blogging partner.
How has being an architect and a literature professor affected your blog?
Our professions have gone beyond our daily jobs. Dealing with words, books, blueprints and sketches is our way of life. We do what we love, therefore being and architect and a literature and linguistics professor is inseparable from who we are. We believe people can sense it on our blog.

What is your favorite landscape? What is your favorite piece of literature or favorite author? Matea: I believe there is no such thing as a favorite landscape. I can find beauty in the vastness of urban spaces, as well as in the secluded parts of nature. That being said, I primarily think of myself as a Mediterranean architect. Mediterranean landscape is where I feel I belong.
Martina: A true book lover could never choose a favorite piece of literature. Skillful and soulful writing speaks a universal language of emotions whether it`s a poem, a novel, a play or a short story. There are numerous authors whose work I appreciate, but the ones who I always go back to are Raymond Carver, J.D. Salinger, Mikhail Bulgakov and Haruki Murakami.

What do you love most about fashion? Why?
Fashion is an incredible art form. For us, fashion is an extension of one`s personality. It may sound weird, but very often fashion speaks loudly of who we are and what we feel. That is why we named our fashion section "Mood Mirror".

What makes your personal style unique?
Today, it is harder than ever to be unique. The trends are global and is very easy to look like a clone. The only way to be unique is to be playful and to dress according to your personality. We build our styles around who we are, not what we wear. Many styles may look similar to each other, but our personalities are what make us stand apart.
Give me one word that you would each describe for yourself?
This is a tough one! We`ll both go with: indescribable!

Lastly, what is something that you would like others to know about you both?
Matea is a passionate animal lover and fighter for animal rights. Martina was a screenplay writer for popular Croatian soap opera which she likes to call "daily drama".

Interview with The Wild Swans

I am so inspired by this interview and glad that I was able to learn more about the person behind the amazing blog called The Wild Swans. He has a great character and very knowledgeable about fashion. I highly recommend following his blog! I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did!

It is my hopes that by these interviews, we as bloggers can actually get to know the amazing people behind the blogs that we follow. And in turn, start a community of bloggers who are passionate about the same things.

What is your name, age, where are you from?
My name’s Ronan and I’m 22 going 23 real soon, I live in Liverpool at the moment (looking into moving to London soon) but I’m originally from Italy.

What made you start to blogging in the first place? What do you like most about blogging?
I’ve always followed some of the famous bloggers such as 00o00, the Bagaholicboy and The Blonde Salad and I was always utterly impressed by the amazing job they were able to put together, throw in the mix that I’m a very creative person and that I love writing then that’s how I started baking the idea of blogging as well.

My favorite part about blogging is being in control of what I’m going to write about, find the media, edit it and then show the results of my hard work in a blog post.

What is the idea behind your blog? What do you blog about? Who are the “Wild Swans”?
I wanted to create a blog about travel and fashion and everything that connects these two elements together such as lifestyle and grooming products, all wrapped up in a bow of elegance. The Wild Swans was all linked with the idea of targeting mainly the male public (though I have lots of girls taking inspiration as well, especially when they want to buy things for the boyfriend or try to become their personal stylists).

I think the web needs more blogs about menswear and men grooming. I came up with the name “The Wild Swans” from the very famous fairytale by H.C.Handersen. I got inspired by the Swans as they are such elegant and stylish creatures.. and they tend to migrate in warmer countries during winter time. So there you have it really, style and travel in forms of white birds!

What are you inspired by? Why?
I’m inspired by so many things that it’s so difficult to pinpoint just few things and people.
I have to say that I tend to get my inspiration from anything that is beautiful to the eye. It can be a good natural scenery or a particular movie or a ballet. Mostly though, I have to say that fashion in general is my main motivator.
Music is another huge factor for my inspiration. I love writing articles while I listen to some cool jazz music! It's just like an energy booster for me.

What is your favorite trend happening this summer?
Good question, I’m in absolute love with those Orleban Brown beach shorts with crazy prints on, I think they are super cool! Shirts with floral prints and short chinos as well (Burberry has few amazing ones!).

It seems like you like to travel, where are all the places that you have been and what was your favorite?
I do love traveling and I hope that soon enough, with a bit of help from my blog I will be able to travel even more. So far I’ve visited Italy, Spain (Barcelona), Czech Republic (Prague), Germany (Munich), Switzerland, Austria, Scotland and England. Then I was able to go to Canada (Toronto) and the US for family reasons. I definitely need to have a trip of Asia soon…

I am in love with menswear! Who is your favorite designer? And what do you like most about it?

My favourite designer is Burberry. I’m just mersmerized by their clothes and I think Christopher Bailey is doing such an amazing job as a creative director for the popular Brit-maison. I think what I like the most about it is the elegance and the English-look of it.

Bailey’s able to transform the clothes into something special. One season is military the next can be nautical. I just love how unpredictable he is.

I also love Lanvin, Balmain and Tom Ford.

P.S. Hands down to Louis Vuitton when it comes to accessories.

Give me three words that describe you.
Creative, Ambitious and Candid.

If you could wear one fashionable piece what would it be and why?
My Tom Ford Sunglasses. I think they are the coolest sunglasses ever made, I fell in love with them as soon as I accidently slipped my eyes on the campaign a few years ago. They make you look pretty bad ass when you have them on.

Lastly, what is something that you would like others to know about you?
I’m hoping to become an editor of a fashion magazine one day, but for now I’ll be focusing on TWS and *fingers crossed* I’ll be able to cover the next S/S menswear fashion weeks in London/Milan/Paris!

Purple Heaven

As early as I can remember, I have always loved the color purple. It is still a color that I will always be partial to. Now that I have gotten into fashion, the colors that I wear are changing. When I was younger I would just wear purple all the time.

If someone were to pull this color off, they would have to wear the right shade. I believe the model above is wearing the right shade. If I could call it a color it would be "thistle" which is a soft purple. This is something that I am inspired by, the color, the pose, the style of dress, the warm sun, and sparkling water.

I hope you are all enjoying your summer.

Summer Breeze

This summer dare to be comfortable in your skin and push your style to it's limits. Meaning it will go on and on because there are no limits, right?
The color white goes with just about any season, but it is something that I have been pushing for myself more  than anything right now.

I love natural beauty. There are so many times when people try to cover what God has already given them whether it be with makeup, weaves and wigs, or plastic surgery. People feel the need to alter what they truly look like for a "better" impersonation of themselves. It is my hopes that I can truly see myself and others for who they truly are and not what they make themselves to be.
This is a follow-up post from my last post, A Night without Stars

Taylor Swift has definitely changed since the last photo shoot she inspired me, yet there are some similarities, with color and design.
